Phil Cooke, who just released an AWESOME book (which I got from him for FREE!), posted this on suicide in Paris. He doesn’t directly attribute the deaths to socialism, but mentions socialism is coincidentally on the rise alongside the suicide rate.
Socialism is one thing. But it’s only one of a 3 – pronged monster I see. 3 forces are (mostly) loosely aligned with Satan and with each other -
1 – Communism/socialism (could be considered two, but I see them as one – godless government.)
2 – the exceedingly wealthy people I affectionately refer to as the “corporate power elite (I actually hold out the most hope for these as they are so few – any one or two of them receiving a “road-to-damascus” experience could shift the entire planet.) and
(drumroll please) #3 and rising with a bullet – Islam. Not the religion of Islam (which is mostly poorly defined by the west), but the political engine of Islam’s Imams.
And it is, in my opinion, the 3rd prong giving the French their worst headache right now. How would you handle it if, in the middle of your pride-and-joy city, Paris, there was a country-within-a-country turning over (and burning) cars and wantonly rioting – as the occasional political cartoon may warrant? Pretty depressing to me, I’ll tell ya!
But this is even more depressing to me, an American concerned about the same #3 problem - thethirdjihad.com
My personal solution to all this is
1 – pointed prayer (with the authority of Colossians 3:1-4),
2 – a prayer-soaked witness of the name and cause of Yeshua (Jesus) on earth (nothing less than heaven on earth – and NOT an Islamic heaven!), and
3 – a whole lotta LOVE (<— if you read any of these links, look at this one!)… cos if tweren’t for the grace of God… there would be ME turning those cars over and calling for the death (or covert takeover from within) of what we know as the free world countries of planet earth! See Higgs on Leviathan (Thanks to Tyler Cowen for that last link and to Zemanta for ALL these links!)
Until more people come to a more realistic, fact-based understanding of the government and the economy, little hope exists of tearing them away from their quasi-religious attachment to a government they view with misplaced reverence and unrealistic hopes. Lacking a true religious faith yet craving one, many Americans have turned to the state as a substitute god, endowed with the divine omnipotence required to shower the public with something for nothing in every department – free health care, free retirement security, free protection from hazardous consumer products and workplace accidents, free protection from the Islamic maniacs the U.S. government stirs up with its misadventures in the Muslim world, and so forth. If you take the government to be Santa Claus, you naturally want every day to be Christmas; and the bigger the Santa, the bigger his sack of goodies.

Phil promotes an idea I also feel very strongly about – entrepreneurialism is a practical outworking of the Gospel of the Kingdom of Yeshua (Jesus) the Messiah. Entrepreneurs “do for self” like Higgs is saying. Christians need to “face the music” – even if they have a great job building someone else’s kingdom – and do what Yeshua is whispering for them to do. Get entrepreneurial and “get’r'done!”
Me, I’m cleaning up a botched job this weekend. But at least I’m doing something!
